Bob Parker – 2024

Our first tournament, the Bob Parker American mixed-doubles, was played on Sunday the 14th April.
30 players attended, and the matches were hard-fought from the first round to the final.
This was the longest tournament we have played by far – starting at 11.00 AM. and not finishing until 6.00 PM.

The winners were, from left to right in the photo below, Michael Parker, Polly Slater, Barbara Stewart, and the men’s runner-up, Torge Steffen.
The scores being 5-3 to Michael and 4-4 to Polly and Barbara.

Congratulations to all who took part. The feedback was, “What a good day’s tennis!”.

Many thanks to the two organisers, Zora and Torge, and a special thanks to Julie Carr who sat all day collating the scores. By the end she was like Nanook of the north, or for those not familiar with that 1922 film title, Jon Snow on “The Wall” in Games of Thrones (very cold).
